Deposit Terms.
In plain words.

When you place a €99 refundable deposit on a Mumble ring, here is exactly what that means — your rights, our obligations, and what happens if things go sideways.

Last updated — April 2026

01 What you are reserving

Mumble is a titanium ring with a directional microphone, designed for discreet dictation to AI tools such as Claude, Cursor and ChatGPT. Your €99 deposit reserves one unit from the first production batch, with delivery targeted — but not guaranteed — between late 2027 and mid 2028.

At the time you place your deposit, the product is pre-prototype. No final hardware exists. We are transparent about this throughout our website. By placing a deposit, you confirm that you understand you are reserving a product that is still being developed.

02 How much you pay today, and when

Today, you pay €99 via Stripe, our payment processor. This is a deposit, not the full price of the product.

The full price of the Founder Edition is €299 (or €499 standard). The remaining balance of €200 (or €400 for the standard edition) will be charged only when we are ready to ship your ring. You will receive a notice at least 14 days before that final charge, with the option to cancel and receive a full refund.

All prices are in euros, inclusive of French VAT (20%) where applicable. Customers outside the European Union may be subject to local import duties and VAT, which are their responsibility.

03 Your right to a refund

Core commitment

Your deposit is 100% refundable, at any time, until the day we ship your ring. No questions. No fees. No time limit other than shipment.

How to request a refund

Send an email to hello@usemumble.com from the address you used at checkout. Include your order reference (Stripe sends it in your confirmation email).

Refunds are processed within 10 business days to the original payment method. Stripe and your bank typically add a further 3 to 7 days before the funds appear on your statement.

Statutory right of withdrawal (EU consumers)

If you are a consumer resident in the European Union, you also benefit from a statutory right of withdrawal of 14 calendar days from the date of your deposit, under Article L221-18 of the French Consumer Code. This right is exercised by sending a clear statement of withdrawal to hello@usemumble.com. The refund will be made within 14 days of receipt of your withdrawal notice. This statutory right is in addition to the broader refund commitment described above.

04 What could go wrong — and what happens then

We are building real hardware with a small team. Delays are possible. Outright failure is possible. Here is how we handle each scenario:

Delay

If the expected shipping window slips by more than 6 months beyond our latest stated estimate, you will be offered a full refund, on request, even if you previously waived it. We will communicate delays in writing, by email, as early as we know.

Technical spec changes

The product description on our website reflects our design intent, not a binding spec. Final materials, weight, battery life and dimensions may differ from what is described. If any of the following change materially, we will notify you and give you the option to cancel with a full refund:

Project cancellation

If we decide to cancel the project entirely — because the market signal is insufficient, because the technology cannot be delivered, or for any other reason — 100% of deposits will be refunded within 30 days of our public announcement. We commit to making this announcement before any pivot or company dissolution.

Insolvency

In the unlikely event that Mumble is unable to honor refunds due to insolvency, French and EU consumer protection law applies, and Stripe's chargeback protections may also be available to you for a period of 120 days from the date of the original transaction. We recommend keeping your Stripe receipt.

05 What your deposit is used for

Your deposit is not held in escrow. It is used to fund the development of the product — specifically: R&D, prototype engineering, certifications (CE, FCC), production tooling, and pre-production costs.

This is standard practice for pre-order hardware projects (see: Kickstarter, Indiegogo). It also means that if all depositors requested refunds simultaneously before shipment, we would be obligated to honor them but might need time to do so. To protect you, we maintain an operating principle of holding a reserve equal to 100% of outstanding deposits at all times. We do not dip into that reserve to fund expenses.

06 Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the project progresses — for example, to reflect a confirmed shipping date or final product specifications. Any change that is materially unfavorable to you will be communicated in writing at least 30 days in advance, and you will be offered the option to cancel your deposit with a full refund before the change takes effect.

07 Who we are

Mumble is operated by Victor Nicolas Jean Bocquillon, trading as VICTORPRO, 2 rue du Château, 92200 Neuilly-sur-Seine, France. SIRET 991 954 777 00017, VAT number FR82991954777. Payments are processed by Stripe Payments Europe, Limited, under Stripe's own terms of service.

These terms are governed by French law. In the event of a dispute, and in accordance with Article L612-1 of the French Consumer Code, you may refer the matter to a consumer mediator free of charge. Alternatively, the courts of Paris shall have jurisdiction, unless a mandatory provision of your country of residence provides otherwise.
